Periods of Development

Prenatal Period is the time from conception to birth, roughly a nine-month period.

Infancy is the development period that extends from birth to 18 to 24 months. They are extremely dependent on adults. They start to learn the language, social learning, and symbolic thought. They explore sensorimotor coordination like sense of touch, sense of taste, sense of sound, sense of smell and sense of sight.

Early childhood is the development period that extends from the end of infancy to about 5 to 6 years of age. This period is called the preschool years. During this time, young children learn to become more self- sufficient. Their language expands; they develop school readiness skills like identifying letters and to follow instructions. They spend many hours in play and with peers.

Hi Durga, Thanks for dropping by to my blog:) I am just sharing this blog out of my interst and I am not an expert to advise people:( All I can is -kids will be needing us only for sometime for example 5 - 6 years of their age- after that they will be on their own. If we baby sit them until 5 yrs of their age-- we might lose stuffs which is happening outside of the world like work life. I know this phase is really hard to cross but hold yourself and keep going. I would suggest you to check for a good day care center where they provide good surroundings and take care of the childern, also check for their activites from morning to evening because that is very important. Another thing is the baby will learn lot of stuffs when they interact with other kids,so take that in a postive sense because your child will start learning a lot once she goes to a day care. Your baby will get some infections like cold and cough which is very common in day care... this will help to build immunity system in your child.

Regarding the food, it is always good to give homemade stuffs since it is healthy. Since she is nine months- you can start giving what ever you guys eat, but it also differs from culture to culture. I am from Kerala, and we start feeding rice early compared to others in India. You can always give mashed bananas, boiled and mashed apples, mashed and well cooked vegetables, dal rice with little ghee, idly etc. Introduce your kid to all kinds of food irrespective of you as parents like it or not, because after sometime the babies becomes very choosy:) Hope this helps you to feel good:)

My sister was like you, and she lives in London. She recently had a baby and she was in your stage. Now she is back to work and the baby goes to day care. He started to speak after going to the day care:)
